One of the most well-known superstitions is that Friday 13 th is unlucky. But where does the idea come from? The number 13 has been thought of as unlucky for a long time. Some people think that might come from the Bible. During the Last Supper, Jesus sat down with his disciples. The 13 th guest at his table was Judas who would later go on to betray him. Similarly, in Norse mythology, Loki was an uninvited 13 th guest at a dinner and it led to the death of another god. But why is Friday 13 th unlucky? Why not Thursday 13 th or Sunday 13 th ? One story is that in 1307 some Knights Templar were arrested, and later executed, by King Philip IV of France. They were captured on Friday 13 th October. Maybe this is where it began? A different theory is that the superstition was created by a book written in 1907. Titled ‘Friday, the Thirteenth’, the book made use of, and maybe created, the idea that Friday 13 th was an unlucky day. But what do you think? Are you finding today unlucky? Why Is Friday the 13 th Unlucky? Photo: Some people think black cats bring bad luck. Daily News Fun World News 13 th December 2024 Comprehension Questions Today’s Big Question
