Boogie woogie is a social dance that appeared in Europe in the second half of the 1940s based on lindy hop. The famous boogie woogie, which for so many years remained a "forbidden fruit" for Soviet youth, is one of the most fun and carefree dances. It refers to swing dancing, performed to rock'n'roll and rockabilly. The closest to boogie-woogie dance styles are lindy hop and West Coast Swing, which is widespread in the USA.
The name of this dance comes from the musical style of the same name, as it originated during the period of popularity of boogie-woogie music. Boogie-woogie is considered a European dance, although it was "spied on" in the post-war period by soldiers of the American Allied army who danced lindy hop. The Europeans shifted their movements to rock and roll melodies and began to boogie-woogie in clubs, gradually adding acrobatic tricks. Pairs of dancers did things on the floor that many artists and athletes would envy! There are acrobatic tricks borrowed mainly from the predecessor dances — Lindy Hop and Jitterbug. Initially, the boogie-woogie dance was exclusively a club, social dance. As a native of older dances (lindy hop and jitterbug), he adopted their traditions and rules. But gradually boogie-woogie became a competitive dance, the rules became more and more complicated, complex acrobatic tricks were more and more appreciated, muses changed, rock and roll became less swing, it began to sound closer to the modern. And so acrobatic rock and roll gradually emerged.
