There are several countries in the world where English is the official language. We would like to tell you about Australia.

The country is located in the Eastern and Southern Hemispheres of the Earth and its territory is 7,692,024 sq. km. Australia borders East Timor, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea to the north, New Zealand to the southeast, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and the Solomon Islands to the northeast and is washed by the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

The largest rivers are the Murray, Darling, Lachlan, Cooper Creek, Flinders, Diamantina. The highest mountains in the country are Mount Kosciuszko and Mount Ossa. The climate of the country is tropical.

The population of Australia is 27,477,008 million people. The country is rich in iron ore, zinc, lead, silver, gold, coal, diamonds and opals, oil and natural gas.

Thanks to the natural resources the mining, metallurgy, chemical, food and mechanical engineering branches of industry are highly developed.

The country is constitutional monarchy. The formal head of state of Australia is King Charles III of Great Britain. He exercises his functions through his representative in the country, the Governor-General, elected by the people every three years.

There are many big cities in the country such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart and Darwin. Canberra is the capital of the state.

Along with the kangaroo, it is a true symbol of the state. Its famous design resembles a seashell, lotus petals and sails at the same time. Today, concerts here are attended by about two million listeners a year, and more than ten million tourists come to see the famous building.

A late 19th-century building in central Sydney, built to celebrate the royal birthday. The exquisite European-style design with copper domes, tall windows and stained glass stands out from the urban environment. An antique clock with a calendar and a dome stands in the middle of the hall.

Almost 3,000 coral formations and islands stretching 2,500 kilometers along the eastern coast of Australia. This unique natural monument is under the protection of UNESCO, it is a refuge for hundreds of species of fish and other marine life.
