Valuyki is one of the main industrial centers of the Belgorod region. The city is located in the south of the Central Russian Upland. History Valuiky became an important fortification of Moscow State defence on its south boarder. Valuiky has three birthdays and that’s true indeed. His house museum was opened in the village of Chepukhino (now Vatutino) in 1950 The museum is located in two buildings: in the house, where Vattin was born, and in the house of his mother built after the death of the hero. Places to visit Valuysky Museum of History and Art In the very center of the city in the building of the former Higher Primary School is the Valuysky Museum of History and Art. It was founded in 1964. The stationary exhibition of the museum consists of two sections: “Soviet fine art” and “History of the Valuysk Territory from ancient times to the middle of the twentieth century”. Three large halls contain genuine objects and some maps of archaeological expeditions, household items, ethnography and numismatics of past eras, as well as historical documents and personal belongings of some famous people of the past, including artists whose paintings are presented a floor above.
