This useful service is available in many cities in Russia to offer help, support and advice to young people who call the helpline because they are having difficulty dealing with a problem. The dedicated members of staff are specially trained to deal with teenage issues such as arguments at home, problems at school, bullying, peer pressure, drugs and much more. They are also able to help teens deal with feelings of anger, shame, loneliness, fear or jealousy by offering psychological support and coping techniques. The Telephone of Trust is often run by local education departments and offers free access day and night, anonymity, confidentiality and respect to anyone who calls. We asked one volunteer what advice she would give for the following problems: I argue with my parents all the time, w hat can I do? It can be frustrating when your parents don’t let you do what you want. Arguing can make you and your parents feel angry and upset. Try to talk to your parents calmly. Listen to what they have to say and they will be more likely to listen to you. I feel like running away, what can I do? If you are unhappy, running away will not make it better. You will have different problems if you are alone on the streets. Talk to us about how you feel. It may be hard to talk about what's wrong but it will really help. We will always listen and we can help you find a way to solve your problems without running away. Well, for children and teens in Russia, it`s just a phone call.
