Hanabiko, nicknamed " Koko " (July 4, 1971 – June 19, 2018) was a female gorilla born in the San Francisco Zoo. She was cross-fostered (воспитывалась) by Francine Patterson for use in ape language experiments.
Frances Patterson managed to teach Koko sign language gestures. A monkey could "pronounce" about 1,000 words and understood about 2,000 more when she heard.
Patterson felt that she had become Koko's "mother“. Koko really disliked taking a bath and reacted to a photo of another monkey being led into the bath, " I'm crying there “.
Koko couldn’t become a mom but she loved babies. Since 1984, Koko had been raising kittens.
Koko loved doing many activities like drawing, playing music, “reading the books”… Koko died in her sleep in California in the morning on June 19, 2018.
