Coober Pedy : “Underground city” Australia /ˈ kuːbər ˈ piːdi /
Coober Pedy (/ˈ kuːbər ˈ piːdi /) is a town in South Australia. The town is called as the “ Opal capital of the world " because of the quantity of precious opals that are mined there.
Coober Pedy is an underground city where 30% of the world's deposits of opals are concentrated.
But not all rooms have windows – there is only one window on each side of the front door. People live underground because it is warm in winter and cool in summer !
The houses of residents are large caves cut into the mountain. Such houses have running water, sewage, electricity, Internet and even underground pools. канализация / ˈ sjuːɪʤ /
In this unusual city, there are also shops, hotels, schools, 3 churches, a museum, bars, libraries. There is even the most unusual cemetery in the world – an underground one.
