‹#› Look at the list of complaints about winter and say which ones are common where you live. Choose three and give a cheerful response to each. It is difficult to drive because the roads are slippery or covered with snow. We get little sunlight and it influences our mood. Winter is not magical here because you never see snow or the Northern Lights. I love cosy warm sweaters, hats and gloves but I can’t wear them because it’s never cold here. How can you celebrate Christmas when it’s warm and sunny outside? The days are too short. I wish we had more snow and could do fun winter activities. The weather makes you want to stay inside all the time.

‹#› Discuss the questions. Do you think people are often unhappy with the weather they get? Are your winters different now from when you were a child? If yes, how? If you could have a perfect winter, what would it be like? Think about the weather, how long it would be, what you could do and wear, etc.
