Heroes of the Urenland In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, we remember the heroes of Uren, who courageously defended their Motherland, sparing neither blood nor life. Four Heroes of the Soviet Union were born and raised on the Urena land: M.F. Orlov, L.S. Belyaev, A.Ya. Smirnov, S.F. Makhalov. In the battles for our Motherland on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, they showed exceptional courage, valour and heroism.
Sergey Fedorovich Makhalov Biography Sergey Makhalov was born on 3 September 1925 in the village of Karpunikha. In January 1943, Makhalov was drafted into the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. By March 1945, Sergeant Sergey Makhalov was the gunner of the 518th Rifle Regiment of the 129th Rifle Division of the 3rd Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front. Feat Makhalov destroyed 13 tanks, 1 self-propelled artillery unit, 12 firing points, 1 mortar battery and about 300 enemy soldiers and officers. He was also awarded the Order of the October Revolution, two Orders of the Red Banner of Labour, the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals.
Lavrentiy Semyonovich Belyayev 1 Early Life Lavrentiy Belyayev was born on 1 August 1911 in the village of Spiridonovo into a peasant family. 2 War In 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army. He participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. 3 Hero On 25 January 1943, during a counterattack, Belyayev killed 7 enemy soldiers and captured one officer. In the same battle, he carried 4 wounded soldiers off the battlefield. 4 Awards By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on 22 February 1944, for "courage and heroism displayed in battles with the German-fascist invaders", Guard Junior Lieutenant Lavrentiy Belyayev was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Alexander Yakovlevich Smirnov Awards By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 27 February 1945, for exemplary fulfilment of combat missions and the courage and heroism shown in this, the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the "Gold Star" medal was conferred on Lieutenant Alexander Yakovlevich Smirnov. War In early June 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army. In late December 1941, he was sent to the front. He participated in battles near Moscow. Then on the Leningrad Front, in the breakthrough of the blockade, in battles on the Karelian Isthmus, in the assault on Vyborg. Biography Alexander Yakovlevich Smirnov was born on 20 May 1921 in the village of Semenovo, Urensky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Mikhail Fedorovich Orlov 1 Beginning of the war Mikhail Orlov received his first baptism of fire in the Battle of Kursk. The tank crew under the command of our fellow countryman destroyed two German tanks. 2 Liberation of Ukraine In the battles for the liberation of Ukraine, Mikhail Orlov received his first award - the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree. 3 Liberation of Poland Then the tank company under the command of Orlov participated in the liberation of many Polish cities. For heroism and valour shown during the capture of the cities of Radom, Lodz, Tomaszow, the brave commander was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Urents - Participants of the Victory Parade Participants For their courage, bravery and heroism in military events, five residents of Urents became participants in the first Victory Parade in Moscow. List They are F.I. Gruzdev, F.Ya. Filippov, P.A. Krasilnikov, F.L. Korobeynikov and Yu.O. Solovyov.
Victory Park 1 Initiative In memory of the war heroes - participants of the military events of 1985 in Uren, the park "To the 40th Anniversary of Victory" was laid. 2 Participants The first trees of the park were planted by war veterans B.A. Shkotov, I.P. Gurin, V.V. Smirnov, N.A. Gordin, A.V. Zhuravlev, D.G. Smirnov, V.A. Kainov, N.P. Golovina, E.V. Vorobyova. 3 Symbolism On the eve of the 40th anniversary of the Great Victory, the veterans planted 40 birch trees.
Remembering the Heroes Immortalising the Memory The people of Uren honour the memory of war veterans. Streets in Uren (named after Orlov and Belyaev) and in the village of Semyonovo (named after Smirnov) are named after them, and schoolchildren in Karpunikha have planted a memorial avenue in honour of S.F. Makhalov, a graduate of Karpunikha school. Memorial Plaques Memorial plaques have been erected for all the Heroes. Legacy Two members of our team live on Orlov Street. They are proud to be the heirs of these heroes.
