The House-Museum of Academician I.P.Pavlov is the memorial monument of the great scientist, the first Nobel prize-winner in Russia the first fysiologist in the world. It is situated in Ryazan. The Museum was founded in 1944 by a Decree of the Soviet Government in the house where I.P.Pavlov spent his childhood and youth.
The Museum was opened for visitors on 6 March 1946. From the beginning the Museum became an important cultural and spiritual centre of Ryazan. The great work was done for the reconstruction of Pavlov estate from that time. There are two Pavlov houses in the enormous yard with household building, the garden with a summerhouse in the memorial complex.
The are three departments in the Museum. They are: The memorial one, in which every one may see unique household articles and make oneself familiar with the Pavlov family`s set-up. The scientific department introduces visitors to I.P.Pavlov as a scientist, a citizen, and a patriot. It is represented by the unique collection of scientific works, surgical instruments of the scientist, the stuffed of chimpanzee Rosa, rare photos, works of art, sculptures and other things.
The department of the reserve has more than 8000 exhibits. The Museum is well known in Russia and in the world. The scientific circles regard this Museum as a valuable foundation for the scientific conferenses and the Pavlov memorial readings. The status of the Memorial Museum-Estate of Academician I.P.Pavlov was confer on the Museum in 1993
