1. The algorithm of the Internet gives you what you like / what it thinks you like. Your vision becomes very narrow. It’s feeding us the same stuff again and again. New platforms are cropping up every year New kid on the block – tiktok Glued to screen = stuck to screen Check your feed everyday 2. In fact, our addiction to SM goes much deeper / SM goes beyond entertainment, it seems to be becoming a one-stop-shop for all our daily needs including keeping in touch with friends and family, getting news, sharing ideas, even shopping. So, despite the parental worries of trolling, body image and FOMO, many teens feel more connected to friends and think SM exposes them to different viewpoints.

Слайд 7: Idioms

You can get hooked on social media It rubs some people up the wrong way Ex. I do use Facebook, but I’m not a big fan. It just rubs me up the wrong way, because it takes up so much time and I can never find the post that I’m looking for and I don’t know how to navigate it. I don’t like everything about it, but I put up with it. It’s great for spreading the word or getting the word out. Tiktok has really t aken off, it’s all the rage. When a new platform becomes popular, everyone jumps on the bandwagon. I like to while away the hours / the days / the afternoons / etc. scrolling on Insta.

How do you keep your mental well-being? This is a very interesting question. Given then hectic lifestyle of the modern times, it is now difficult to stay mentally stable.
