The welding arc and its reflected radiation have a harmful effect on the eyes. Before you start welding or observing welding work, you should properly protect your eyes and face. Also note the different requirements for dimming the mask filter depending on the welding current. Arc radiation and splashes of molten metal cause burns to unprotected skin. Always wear protective gloves, clothing and shoes when welding. If the level of external noise exceeds the permissible limit value (for example, 85 dB), be sure to use hearing protection.
Use caution when working with parts heated during welding. For example, the tip of the welding torch, the end of the welding electrode and the workpiece will be heated to a temperature that can cause burns. Do not carry the equipment or hang it on the carrying strap during welding. Protect the welding machine from high temperatures as this may damage it. Keep the burner cable and the ground cable as close as possible to each other throughout their length. Straighten the loops on the cables, if any. This will reduce the effects of harmful magnetic fields, which, for example, may interfere with pacemakers. Do not wrap cables around the body.
Welding is always classified as work related to the heating or use of a flame, therefore, during and after welding, it is necessary to strictly observe the rules of fire safety. Remember that a fire can start from sparks even a few hours after the completion of welding. Protect your equipment from spatter during welding. Remove flammable materials, such as flammable liquids, from the welding site and ensure that you have the necessary fire fighting equipment at the welding site. When performing special welding work, do not forget about the possibility of a fire or explosion when welding container-type blanks. In no case do not direct the spark or the cutting jet of the grinder at the welding machine or flammable materials! When working on equipment, make sure that no hot objects or splashes fall on it. It is strictly forbidden to perform welding in the storage areas of flammable or explosive substances.
Only connect the welding machine to a grounded mains. Note the recommended mains fuse rating. The welding machine must not be inside a container, car or other similar construction. Do not place the welding machine on a wet surface or work on a wet surface. Avoid direct contact of the power cord with water. Make sure that cables or welding torches are not transferred by heavy objects and do not come into contact with sharp edges or hot pieces. Make sure that defective or damaged welding torches are replaced immediately, as they are life threatening and can cause death from electric shock or fire. Remember that cables, plugs and other electrical devices may be installed or replaced only by a qualified electrician or electrician authorized to perform such work. Turn off the welding machine when not in use. In the event of an abnormal functioning of the equipment, for example, when smoke appears from the machine during normal operation, transfer the machine to a representative of the Kemppi service center.
Insulate yourself from the welding circuit by wearing dry and intact protective clothing. Do not touch the workpiece and the welding rod, electrode wire, welding electrode or contact tip at the same time! Do not lay the welding torch or ground cable on the welding machine or other electrical equipment! Before touching any component of an electrical circuit, for example, when replacing an electrode or contact tip or moving the grounding cable clamp, turn off the device using the main switch.
Ensure proper ventilation and avoid inhaling gases. Provide sufficient fresh air, especially in confined spaces. You can also provide clean air for breathing using a mask with clean air. Take special precautions when gouging metals containing lead, cadmium, zinc, mercury or beryllium.
The welding power source is not intended for use in rain or snow, although it can be used and stored outdoors. Keep equipment away from rain or strong sunlight. The unit should always be stored in a dry and clean place. During operation and storage, it is necessary to protect the apparatus from sand and dust. The recommended operating temperature is from -20 to +40 ° C. At temperatures above 40 ° C, the efficiency of the apparatus decreases and it becomes more vulnerable to malfunctions. Install the machine so that it does not come into contact with hot surfaces and sparks or metal splashes do not hit it. Make sure that the vents of the machine are not blocked. The unit should be transported in an upright position.
Follow the instructions for handling gas cylinders and regulators. Gas cylinders should be used and stored in rooms with proper ventilation. Leakage from a gas cylinder can lead to a decrease in the oxygen concentration in the inhaled air, leading to asphyxiation. Before use, make sure that the gas cylinder contains gas that is appropriate for the operation being performed. Be sure to secure the gas cylinder in an upright position on the cylinder rack or on a special trolley. It is forbidden to move the gas cylinder with an installed flow regulator. During transport, replace the valve cap in its place. After completing the work, close the cylinder valve.
